Well it’s almost Thanksgiving break and I cannot wait! School has been stressful due to tests that come out this time of year and all the homework teachers cram on you to make sure they get everything covered by the end of the semester. It will be nice to finally have a couple days off from school and relax.
However, what I wanted to share with you guys is information about the TRIO program. Trio is a program that helps students have the same opportunities as everyone else to succeed in school. To become part of Trio you must either be a first generation college student, qualify for a pell grant, or have a disability either physical or learning. Trio provides tutors to help you with any class you need help in which comes in handy when you have three papers due and haven’t started on any. They also provide books for your classes at the beginning of each semester which is nice because you don’t have to pay for them and they get very pricey. Trio has a computer lab which students can use all day at their own convenience as well as counselors to help out with any problem that might occur. Trio has helped me out a lot this semester because it was my first time being in college and I didn’t really know how to go about anything. The people who work for Trio all do their best to help students as much as possible. I am even going to visit with one of the Trio counselors this week to register for classes this spring. It is nice to have a place to go where people are friendly and willing to help. So, keep in mind that anyone can apply for Trio and it has greatly improved my college life so far.
