Patrick Goggles kicks off Diversity series at CWC

Rep. W. Patrick Goggles kicks off the Intertribal Education and Community Center Speaker Series at Central Wyoming College with a presentation Thursday, Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre.

Goggles, who was recently named the Wyoming House Democratic Minority Whip, is the first in a series of speakers to address cultural diversity in academia, said CWC Diversity Committee Chair Sergio Maldonado.

A former CWC student and graduate of the University of Wyoming, Goggles is a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and a lifelong resident of Ethete. “He is extremely involved in the Northern Arapahoe culture and life ways,” said Maldonado. Goggles is the executive director of the Northern Arapaho Housing Authority and is a graduate of Leadership Wyoming.

He is a member of the House Education Committee, the Travel, Recreation and Cultural Resources Committee, and is on three select committees: School Facilities, Tribal Relations, and Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Maldonado said the speaker series continues this spring with speakers scheduled for presentations in February, March and April. The series is capped off by a powwow set for Saturday, May 1, which is the Wyoming American Indian Day.

The speaker series is open to the public. The Little Theatre is located in the CWC Student Center.
