Campus alert

Central Wyoming College is taking precautions after receiving a message of a potentially threatening nature on the main campus during finals week.

The message was called to college officials’ attention on Thursday evening. The CWC Crisis Management Team met at 7:30 am today with members of the Riverton Police Department to further investigate the situation.

Erring on the side of caution, police officers will be on patrol at the main campus in Riverton and are working closely with the college Campus Safety department.

“We are advising our students, employees and visitors to the campus to be cautiously aware,” said CWC President Jo Anne McFarland, adding that the threat is not specific. “We understand that this is a very stressful time for our students, but we want to make sure that we take any potential threat seriously, because safety is our top concern.”
